Free Cooking Demo at the Woolpack Pub, Burgess Hill, 31st August
We are proud to announce our next monthly free cooking demo at The Woolpack Pub in Burgess Hill ahead of the event this time! Our very own very own pool of knowledge and experienced with all things fish James Thomas will be leading the exciting and varied event. The focus on next weeks cooking demo will be on our very local and incredibly abundant brown crabs. James and I have had many chats about the beauty of crabs in all aspects including the fact that they multiply quicker than we can eat them! They are all over our shores and the subject of the largest crab fishery in Western Europe, centred around the coasts of the British Isles, with more than 60,000 tonnes caught annually.
Most however, like many of our fish goes straight to France, Italy and Spain! Crab is one of the most versatile of foods in the fish world with hundreds of recipes found online and in cooking books. From a crab linguine to a summer salad garnished simply with a dressed crab... a chili crab stir fry to a crab cake.. you can create any dish from any part of the world with crab!
We will show you not only how to cook and prepare the crab, we will show you how to pick it and dress it! So come along and have fun with us at The Woolpack Pub next Wednesday! The event will start at 8pm but you are all advised to get there earlier in order to get yourself a drink and a good spot! The event is completely free although remember its a tasting not a feeding!

Free Cooking Demo at the Woolpack Pub, Burgess Hill, 27th July
We have pleasure in confirming our next cooking demo to be this Wednesday 27th July, it has taken a while to be able to confirm this as we are teaming up with the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Group charity, the Woolpack Pub and our very own chef James Thomas. We can now however, invite you to come and join us for another evening of fun, tasting, learning and to top it off - all for a good cause! No excuses.
We will be distributing recipe cards with the evenings wonderful dishes to be prepared and cooked. We will be displaying a small selection of our finest produce to illustrate and highlight the importance and difference in quality fresh fish. Our aim is for you to leave our soirée with an invigorated pallet and to discover taste buds that you never knew existed from tasting some of the finest quality fish cooked how it should always. Simple, the key word with fish!
We would love for you all to attend the demo at The Woolpack Pub in Burgess Hill on Wednesday 27th, you are welcome to arrive any time but the demo will start at 8pm.. advisable to come in early to ensure a good spot and drink in your hand! We look forward to seeing you all there.

We hope you are all coping with the snow and ice okay. The recent snowfall was incredible to say the least, for a guy born in a tropical country it really was awesome. Just wish business would run as usual!
Right, so just to give you a heads up on opening times please see below. We will be open longer than and more often than ever before although stocks may be limited in between Xmas and New Year.
Judging by the uncertain weather conditions I feel most people are nervous about planing too much in case we get snowed in. Well I would like to reassure you all that as far as fish goes you do not have to worry. Should you not be able to come in to the shop for any Xmas orders placed or for your weekly/daily fix due to snow/ice we will make sure you are not disappointed.
We anticipated the snow causing problems and bought a 4x4 for such a time, the Jeep proved priceless on the last snowfall a few weeks back and saved us from a potential catastrophe regarding selling the fish we had and keeping our customers and restaurants happy. I think we did very well and I suggest we all invest in 4x4's! No really, it was great to be able to get around flawlessly and fearlessly. To cut the long story short should anyone struggle to get to us we guarantee to get to you, regardless of the weather, so please relax and anticipate business as usual from us at the shop. Even if you need other bits and bobs from other shops we will run a delivery service to you and help out.
So please help us help you and we can all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

Free Cooking Demonstration, Wed 15th December
We are proud to announce our next FREE cooking demo which will be held at The Fresh Fish Shop, Haywards Heath, RH16 1EA on Wednesday 15th December.
Our superstar chef for the evening will be no other than Steven Cooke from Cooke's catering (www.cookescatering.co.uk). Steve will lead the way with his fantastic new recipes with a Christmas theme, so if you feel like being inspired with fish and seafood for Xmas then this will be a great place to start.
We will also offer wine/mulled wine on the evening to keep you warm and cozy whilst you stand back and see how our brilliant team and chef demonstrate the whole process from seeing a whole fish unprepared on our slab to having it filleted, pin boned, butterflied, skinned, diced, sliced you name it we will show you! Then of course Steve will illustrate the simplicity of fish by knocking up some fabulous recipes for you all to take home and have a go at yourselves.
Anyone is welcome, we are known to turn those with no interest in fish to eager connoisseurs so bring anyone along. The more the merrier!
For those of you who have attended these in the past will know that space in the shop has always been a logistical issue, however this cooking demo we will resolve this by offering you the choice of 2 sessions, one will be between 17:00-18:45 and the second between 19:00-20:45. We therefore ask you to please contact us to book your place in order to avoid disappointment! With this new setup we are confident you will all get a sample of each dish, a good view of the chef in action and space for us all to breathe!

Woolpack Pub, Burgess Hill, 10th November
The Fresh Fish Shop is holding a cooking demomonstration from 7.30pm on Wednesday 10th November at the Woolpack pub, in Burgess Hill. This free event will feature local fisherman Lee, who is going to bring his days catch with him, and give us information on our local fish, best preparation and cooking tips.
Seb, Martyn and Tim will also be having a 'cook off' competition.

Lindfield Arts Festival 14-16th May
The Fresh Fish Shop will be at the Lindfield Arts Festival 14-16th May. We will be setting up a display at the Church Hall between 10am and 3pm and giving away free samples and selling a variety of fish too.
Our fresh fish will also be used by the talented chefs from several of our local restaurants to prepare tasty dishes for you to try.
Later in the day, between 12pm and 2pm at the Kitchen Shop, we will be holding two cooking sessions where Tim will show you how to prepare some fishy treats for yourself. Due to the popularity of this event you will need to book in advance.

Free Invitation to Learn and Taste!
Thanks to the large turn out to last year’s re-launch party and the overwhelming positive response we received from it we will be holding another Free Cooking Demonstration. Steve Cooke is back in our shop to rekindle your taste buds and to demonstrate his new and unique recipe ideas, suggestions, tips and advice on just about everything fish!
You will be greeted with a glass of wine and will leave with new enthusiasm, knowledge and confidence in a variety of seafood you might not have been aware of!

We are on BBC2 this Friday 29th!
We were lucky enough to have been recommended to the BBC2 celebrety Chef program 'Put your money where your mouth is' and as a result we were chosen to appear in the show! The program is about two chefs battling each other in the name of charity where the chef with the highest profit wins. They spent a good couple of hours in the shop filming although we’re sure the editors will cut this to maybe a few seconds but even so, for a chance to see your local fishmonger on telly dont miss the show on Friday. Launch party success!
Our launch party last weekend was full of surprises with an amazing selection of beautifully cooked samples by Steve Cooke, a massive turn out of people we cant thank enough for attending and an impressive performance by our inspirational Chef, Steven. We would like to thank all of those who attended and would also like to thank all of those who helped us create such a wonderful evening. The wine was flowing smoothly, the samples tingling our taste buds non-stop through out the night and a great selection of people were here to enjoy it with us. For those of you who missed it please dont feel left out, due to the success of the launch party we will be looking into organising similar evenings every few months at the shop... so look out!
